I was recently asked to represent Bird Construction Company at the opening ceremony of the recently completed Lions Housing project in Winnipeg. Attending these functions usually brings about trepidation on our part, not knowing if we will be taken to task for substandard performance or complimented for a job well done.

In hindsight, there was no need to worry on this project as comments from the owners, operators and public at large were extremely complimentary of the quality of workmanship and the cooperation exercised working in an operational facility. We could not have expected to hear these compliments without having Western Millwork Ltd. on our team as a full partner in the execution of this project. The Cabela’s retail store is the first of its kind in the province of Ontario and a landmark project for the City of Barrie that has been very well received by the public and a building that PCL are very proud to have been a part of. I would like to take an opportunity to make note of a positive experience we shared with Western Millwork Ltd. on the Alexander Apartments Project. 100/90 Alexander is a total of 226 multi family rental apartments located in the heart of the exchange district on Alexander and Waterfront. Western Millwork Ltd was contracted by Concord Projects to provide all the kitchen cabinets as well as the high end finished acid etched glass partition wall frames. Although, this particular project faced many challenges at the foundation and structure stages, Western Millwork Ltd played an instrumental role in the successful completion with a valiant push at the finishing stages.

Facing potential material order delays with the uncertainty caused by Covid 19 and an unpredictable construction climate, we worked closely with Western Millwork Ltd at the initial stages of the project to proactively secure materials. Western Millwork Ltd accommodated the material storage requirements and even constructed a structure at their facility to store the large amount of material for the project.

The pace towards the end of the project significantly ramped up and Western Millwork Ltd was able to keep up with the demand. There was little to no issues with deficient work and their installers worked tirelessly maintaining good quality.

I would strongly recommend Western Millwork Ltd for Medium to Large sized projects and look forward to working with Natalya Osmankina and her team in the coming years.
